Case booked against Kalam’s former aide Ponraj

Police in Cuddalore New Town on Sunday (May 17, 2026) registered a case against V Ponraj, scientific advisor to former President APJ Abdul Kalam, on charges of making derogatory remarks against women who support the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
Police said Mr Ponraj had spoken in a derogatory manner against women in an interview with a Tamil YouTube channel weeks ago.
Based on a complaint filed by B. Rajkumar, District Secretary, TVK, the police registered a case against Mr. Ponraj under Section 79, 353 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita read with Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women (TNPHW) Act, read with Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.
