Carlos Alcaraz said that playing was aggressively helped to defeat Jack Draper at the Italian Open 2025. On Wednesday 14th May 22-year-old Alcaraz lasted an hour and 37 minutes to win the quarterfinal match of 6-3, 6-4 at the Central Court.
In the first set, Alcaraz found himself under pressure after Draper came out 4-2 with a break. The Spaniard, however, brilliantly responded with breaks on his back and closed the set in 42 minutes.

Alcaraz got an early break in the second set, but Draper immediately earned him back to get 1-1. In 4-4, Alcaraz drilled the last nail in the coffin with his fourth and last break of the match. The young man said he did not let the drapera dictate the deadlines in long gatherings.
“I think the most important thing I did today was not to think if I was up or down, I just tried to do things that make me happy in court. I try to play aggressive, hit good shots, run shots and go to the net.

“I played in such a high rhythm throughout the match. I did not allow him to dominate or stay in the gatherings for a long time. I think it was a really good weapon for me today. Really proud of the match,” Alcaraz said in an interview for trial.
Alcaraz gains back confidence
Alcaraz returned to Rome after Madrid missed the injuries of the weaknesses and hamstring he suffered in Barcelona. However, Alcaraz, who will defend his French open crown at the end of this month, said he began to gain confidence.
“I just feel like I’m playing a great tennis on the dirt. I think I started the season of clay really well. It was a pity that I hurt after Barcelona. It is always hard to be in the shape of the whole swing. Added.
