Carlos Alcaraz pulled open from Madrid to give enough time to recover from his fears of injuries before the French open. Previously in the final of Barcelona Open, where he lost in direct sets on Holger RuneAlcaraz suffered a weakness and hamstrings injury.
The Spaniard, who was denied the third title, said he would be able to determine the scope of his injury after his medical tests. Alcaraz mentioned that due to the importance of the Major Court in Roland Garros, the 21-year-old decided from Madrid Open.
“I couldn’t practice for a week and found that I had injuries to hamstrings and weaknesses. I needed to listen to my body and make the right decision. On Monday I will have more medical tests and then we will have a better idea of how long I will be out,” Alcaraz told reporters.
“This tournament is very exciting, but things didn’t work as I wanted to be able to compete. It hurts me so I can’t play in Madrid in front of my people, friends and family,” Alcaraz said.
“There’s no easy decision”
Alcaraz was to be scheduled to play in the second round on Friday, April 25 after he got in the opening round. Alcaraz took medical time limits during the finals in Barcelona and after the loss of the match also fell to No. 3 in the ranking, etc.
“I expect to return to court and start practicing in a few weeks. Rome is still a possibility, but I will definitely be in Paris. It’s not an easy decision, because Madrid is the first tournament I’ve ever been like a young boy, it’s the most place for me, but (preferred by Roland Garros) was a big part of my stop.
The French Open is scheduled to start on May 25th. Last year Alcaraz won the title for the first time After defeating Alexander Zverev in the finals.
