Carlos Alcaraz continues training and offers positive injury update ahead of US Open
Carlos Alcaraz has offered fans fresh hope of a return in time for the US Open after accelerating his recovery from a wrist injury that sidelined him for nearly three months. The Spaniard recently shared videos of himself back on the training court in Murcia, fueling speculation that his long-awaited return could be around the corner.
The videos showed Alcaraz training with his team and hitting freely as part of his rehabilitation program. The footage, captioned ‘on track’, was the clearest hint yet that the 23-year-old is nearing a comeback, even as he confirmed his withdrawal from the Canadian Open in Montreal.
Alcaraz has not played since suffering an injury during the Barcelona Open in April, which forced him to fail miss a few big tournamentsincluding Madrid, Rome, French Open and Wimbledon. The Spaniard, who initially hoped to return to Roland Garros, was eventually advised not to rush his recovery.
Reports from Spain suggest Alcaraz is targeting a comeback during the North American hard court swing, with the Cincinnati Open and US Open emerging as the most likely comeback events. However, his camp remained cautious, favoring a gradual recovery process over an early return.

The injury could hardly have come at a worse time for Alcaraz, who has enjoyed a sensational start to the season. The Spaniard won his first title at the Australian Open in January and compiled a 22-3 record before his campaign was brought to an abrupt halt.
When Alcaraz withdrew from the Madrid Open, he admitted the enforced break was hard to take, but insisted he was determined to come back stronger.
“That’s what happens to professional athletes. At the end of the day you just have to stand up and try to be stronger than ever and hopefully I can be on the field very soon,” he said.
His long-term absence has left a significant void on the ATP Tour as the former world number one missed both the clay and grass seasons. Tennis great Rafael Nadal, who has suffered multiple wrist injuries throughout his career, urged patience and downplayed concerns about the long-term impact of Alcaraz’s setback.
For now, the focus remains firmly on New York. While there is still no official timetable for his return, Alcaraz’s return to training has reignited hopes that fans could see him back on court before the final Grand Slam of the year.
With the US Open just weeks away, signs from Murcia suggest one of tennis’ brightest stars may finally be nearing the end of his frustrating spell on the sidelines.
