
Veteran South African cricket Dane van Niekerk turned his retirement decision and made available again for the international selection. On Monday, August 25, former women’s captain Proteas, who led the party in 50 ODI and 30 T20is, announced on the social media to fully recommend the South African cricket.
Its name also contains the ODI World Training Team, which will take place in India from 30 to 2 September to November 2.
Van Niekerk last played an international cricket in September 2021. She missed the ODI World Championship of ODI 2022 after suffering ankle fracture that required a longer -term than expected recovery. Initially, this tournament was prepared to lead the Republic of South Africa, its return was further delayed when it could not complete the mandatory two kilometer run until 9:30.

“I am excited to announce that I decided to cancel my retirement from the international cricket. Time away reminded me of how much I missed the representation of my country and I am fully determined to give everything to have this opportunity again,” Van Niekerk wrote in a statement on Instagram.
“I sincerely apologize to the cricket of South Africa and the cricket family for retirement, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to re -express my skills again on the international scene.
“I am returning with renewed energy, focus and deep feeling of gratitude for this chance. Thank you all who continue to support me on this journey,” added van Niekerk.
South Africa still has to announce a World Cup platoon
During one test, 107 ODI and 86 T20is, Dane van Niekerk gathered 4,074 runs, including one century and 19 half -lives, while claiming 204 goals with seven or two five goals.
During her time, outside the international cricket, she performed for the Invincyl and was part of the Royal Challengers Bengalur in the Women’s Premier League 2023.
The South Africa, which has announced its World Cup team, will start a campaign on Friday, October 3 at the Barsapar stadium in Guwahati. Before the announcement, the team will undergo a training camp in Durban.
