Chennai Super Kings confirmed on Thursday that the current Captain Ruturai Gaikwad was expelled from the rest of the IPL 2025 due to a broken elbow, preparing the way for Dhoni’s dramatic return as a captain.
The news broke the day before the highly anticipated CSK clash against the Knight Knight riders and sent fans to the emotional vortex.
Chief coach Stephen Fleming announced the development and said: “Ruturaj Gaikwad was expelled from IPL with a fracture on the elbow. Mrs. Dhoni will take over as a captain for the rest of the season.”

This is not the first time that Dhoni returned to the rescue of franchise.
