Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka continued to beat around the bush in his press conference and did not specify why other contracts were not canceled when the Naini MDO contract was cancelled, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader T. Harish Rao asked on Saturday.
In his statement, the BRS leader claimed that the cancellation of the Naini MDO contract was enough proof of irregularities in the Singareni tenders and the Deputy Chief Minister only tried to deflect the issue by reading the tender conditions of various companies. When other tenders were issued in the same way, why were they not cancelled? wanted to know from Mr. Vikramarka.
To the Deputy CM’s poser as to why the BRS leaders did not write to him for an inquiry, Mr. Harish Rao said that he had written to the Union Coal Minister with the view that only a central agency like the CBI or a judge can investigate allegations involving the Chief Minister or his/her relative as the Singareni OB tender scam involved a relative of the Chief Minister.
He said he would write to Mr. Vikramark if the latter ensured a fair investigation into the Chief Minister’s role in getting contracts to his relative. He sought to find out whether the Deputy CM was justifying the fraud by blaming the previous BRS regime on the certification condition of the on-site visit.
The BRS leader also questioned Mr. Vikramarka’s silence on the Singareni solar power “scam” and why he did not speak a word at the press conference.
Meanwhile, BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan said the Deputy CM’s words clearly indicated fraud in the Singareni tenders and if there was no irregularity, why did the government hesitate to order an inquiry by canceling the tenders.
