Cancel ₹1 maintenance order for Cliff House: CM

Chief Minister VD Satheesan has directed the Public Works Secretary to cancel the order for carrying out maintenance of over ₹1 crore at Cliff House, the official residence of the Chief Minister.

The official was also asked to submit an urgent report on the issuance of such an order without the knowledge of the Chief Minister or his office.

When the United Democratic Front (UDF) came to power, the Chief Minister made it clear that no unnecessary beautification or construction should take place at Cliff House.

According to the department’s explanation, the order was issued as part of a security audit being prepared from 2022.

The Chief Minister ordered that no work be carried out as per the estimate prepared under the previous government; only necessary reconstruction should be done. However, as the order was issued outside the instructions of the Chief Minister, a report was sought from the Public Works Secretary.
