
At least 10 people, including the suspected gunman, were killed in a shooting at Tumbler Ridge High School in the Canadian province of British Columbia on Tuesday, February 10. According to a CNN report, the school will be on lockdown for the rest of the week following the incident, which is said to be the deadliest school shooting in a decade.
Six people were found dead inside the high school, two more people were found dead at a residence police believe was related to the incident and another person died while being taken to hospital, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

– Around 1:30 p.m., lockdown alarms sounded throughout the school, ordering teachers to close and secure classroom doors. One student said he and his classmates used desks to barricade themselves in the classroom, CNN reported.
— Darian Quist, a 12th grade student at the school, said the alarm went off shortly after he arrived at his classroom. He told CBC Radio West that when he realized it wasn’t a drill, he and his classmates quickly pushed desks against the door to barricade themselves inside.
– Quist said they stayed locked in the classroom for almost two hours. During that time, some students began circulating what he described as “disturbing” images from other parts of the school, showing blood and scenes of what was taking place, a CNN report said.
– The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) issued an “in place” warning early on, telling Tumbler Ridge residents to lock their doors and stay indoors until further notice. RCMP said the suspect was found dead, but their officers are working to determine if there is a second suspect.
