Can the CKR comeback in IPL 2025? The CEO of Venky Mysore reminds fans of previous heroism

Kolkata CEO Knight Riders Venky Mysore refused to calculate his team from the play -off race. Mysore, who spoke at the Calcutta event the day after the team threw Gujarat Titans at home, reminded fans the history of comeback.

The loss against Gujarat Titans was Kolkat’s fifth season. After eight matches, they have only six points in their name and are currently ranked seventh in the league table. Mysore pointed out that KKR was in similar situations during the 2014 and 2021 season – and still managed to script the epic comebacks in the second half.

“KKR is a very durable team. This is our 18th season. When you look at our record, we are among the top three. Whenever new people come to our settings, I will tell them that in 2014, we won only two and we lost five.

“In 2021 we had only two wins and five losses in the middle of the phase – and we still got to the finals. Therefore anything can happen in this format; there are still many games left,” he added.

Mysore expressed confidence in the lead Ajinkya Rahane and Dwayne Bravo, his co-panelists at the event and said that both men understand how to turn things when the situation is not ideal.

“Inspiration can come from anywhere. Sometimes we get caught in the IPL table, wins and loss. But when you retreat back and put things in a perspective, you realize that there is life beyond just victory and losses – and you can draw inspiration from anywhere,” Mysore said.

Kolkata Knight riders have recently brought Abhishek Nayar back to their settings after being released from his position as a branding coach of the Indian team. Captain Ajinkya Rahane was asked for Nayar’s return and said the team was glad to have him back.

“It is good to have Abhishek Nayar back in the settings. He was an important part of this team for a long time. As players, we are very happy to see him. He knows every player well. We are really happy to have him back,” Rahane said.
