
K. Sudhakar, a district forest officer, received a memento for an event organized in the village of Azhaganandhal.
The Turvannamalai Division has organized a campaign of awareness of the protection of biodiversity in the village of Azhaganandhal to mark the International Day for Biological Diversity.
The campaign was opened by K. Sudhakar, a district forest officer, Tiruvannamalai.
Forest officials stated that it is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of biodiversity, taking active measures to maintain and emphasize its necessity to maintain human life.
At his address Mr. Sudhakar emphasized the urgent need to maintain biodiversity, the need to protect natural habitats, reduce nature exploitation, prevent climate change, control of pollution and removal of invasive plant species to preserve ecological balance.
The program witnessed the active participation of members of Azhaganandhal’s Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC), students and teachers of Shazammal Vidya Mandir School, NGOs, wildlife enthusiasts, forest officials and inhabitants.
GP Saravanan, forest reach officer (Tiruvannamai); G. Vinodhraj, assistant conservator of forest; ADHIYA, Chairman, Azhaganandhal BMC; And R. Balaji, Forester (Tiruvannamalai) was present.
