Sree Narayan Guru’s call to end fireworks and elephant processions at temple festivals is gaining momentum even as the state is still reeling from the shock of the firecracker accident in Thrissur that left 15 dead.
The guru’s call of “Kariyum venda, Karimarunnum venda” (no elephants and no fireworks) is widely quoted in social media campaigns to abandon the use of elephants and high-intensity gunpowder displays following the recent accident.
