A month after the renowned Hackman’s actor’s wife Betsy Arakawa died of the Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome in the House of New Mexico, three people in the rural city of Mammoth Lakes died of the same illness that caused alarm between healthcare officials, New York Post.
According to Betsy Arakawa, Hantavirus died in February, after which a rare disease got into the national reflector.
The report added that the public health of Mono County confirmed three more deaths this week.
“The occurrence of three cases in a short period feared me,” Dr. Tom Boo, a public health officer in the Mono County district.
It took two weeks for medical officials to disintegrate the secrets surrounding the death of a pair of celebrities when they revealed that Arakawa had infected a fatal virus.
How does HPS spread?
Experts suggest that Hantavirus lung syndrome is caught by contact with feces, urine or saliva infected with mice. It is mostly caught by inhalation of contaminated air particles.
Every year, somewhere between 20 and 50 people, HPS catches, says disease control and prevention centers. One third of the infected people die of disease.
What did experts say?
Authorities for public health in the Mono County district that quoted the reasons for the deaths of people said that one of the other two cases could have arisen from the waste of the victim’s rodents while the individual was probably exposed at home during the known contamination
In the latter case, however, there was no evidence of mice infection that deepened the secrets around the elusive illness.
“We don’t have a clear idea of where this young adult could infect the virus,” NyP Boo quoted.
In HPS, infections occur at the end of spring or summer, which is “strikingly unusual” at the beginning of the year, Monic County added public health.
