On Saturday, the state cabinet nodded on the proposal of Kerala privately held a surplus of land (regularization).
After the digital resurvey in the state was launched in 2023, excess land was found in most land plots, as digital surveys were more accurate than earlier chain surveys. It is estimated that more than 50% of almost 3.74 crore land in the state will have excessive land.
Government Puramboke, the land acquired by the government and land entrusted to the government, are asked first and only then the interviewed private land. Excess soil found during private resurvey will be regularized.
The income department in January issued an order that once it was ensured that excess land was not a government land, a mutation for the whole land and tax was taken.
The purpose of the bill is to provide correct documents for excessive land in possession.
According to the bill, excess soil should be fully in possession of an individual and for which the tax is paid and whose borders are undisputed. Government land will not be regulated under this Act.
