The Cabinet Committee for Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (September 10, 2025), approved the doubles section of the Bhagalpur-Dumka-Rampurhat section with individual rail lines that span 177 km in Bihar, Jharhand and West Bengal.
The increased capacity of the line will improve mobility and provide increased efficiency and reliability of the service, said the Indian railway spokesman.
The proposal for multiple monitoring will reduce the operation and reduce overload and provide the much required development of infrastructure on the busiest sections through Indian railways, the spokesman added.
The projects are planned for the National Plan PM-Gati Shakti Shakti, focusing on improving multimodal connectivity and logistics efficiency through consultations for integrated planning and stakeholders. These projects will provide trouble -free connectivity for the movement of people, goods and services.
Connects three states
The project covers five districts in three countries – Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal and will increase the existing Network of Indian railways by about 177 kilometers.
“The project section also provides railway connectivity to significant destinations such as Deoghar (Baba Baidyanath Dham), Tarapit (Shakti Peeth), etc. Testing pilgrims and tourists from all over the country,” the spokesman said.
Projects with multiple tracking will increase the connection to approximately 441 villages and about 28.72 Lakh populations and three aspiration districts – bank, Godda and Dumka.
This is an essential way for commodity transport, such as coal, cement, fertilizers, bricks and stones, etc. Capacity improvements will lead to further transport operations of 15 MTPA (million tonnes per year).
