The Institute of Authorized Accountants in India (ICAI) on Thursday (March 27, 2025) announced that the final CA test will now be held three times a year instead of two. The exams would be in January, May and September. The decision was taken at the 26th meeting of the Council of the Regulatory Authority of the peak for authorized accounting in the country.
All exams now three times a year
Chartered accounting exams are across three levels, ie the foundation (initial phase), the middle (penultimate phase) and the final. Last year, ICAi decided on the basis of the “Foundation” and “Medium” test three times a year instead of two. Thursday’s announcement (March 27, 2025) is reflected in all tests that are now held three times a year. He outlined that the aim was to admit more opportunities to appear in the exam.

ICAI further reported that the evaluation test for the course after qualifications in the audit of information systems will also be three times a year. They would be in February, June and October.
Regarding the justification of the decision, ICAi justified that the effort was to connect with “global proven procedures and to provide students with more opportunities”. From the perspective, the Institute for Authorized Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) ACA is trying on three levels, namely the “certificate”, “professional” and “advanced”. They can be taken in any order. The “professional” exam takes place four times a year, while advanced takes place twice a year. Certificate tests can be tested at any time of the year.
31 946 students passed the final CA final exam last year
According to the data collected by ICAI, 20,446 students passed in May and in November another 11,500 were qualified.
