According to state fire and emergency and emergency departments, careless smoking appeared in 2024. The numbers reveal a total of 3,865 fire incidents induced by discarded cigarette butts and negligence – far bearing all other causes.
Electric abbreviations came second, causing 2,151 incidents, while the categories of catches marked “others” represented 845 cases. Another 670 fire calls were categorized as “not known”, indicating insufficient investigation or lack of information on the spot.
The data offer a perennial view of conventional triggers, many of which can be prevented. The main causes were mechanical heat or sparks (221 cases), gas and coal furnaces (206) and arson (127). “Spontaneous combustion contributed to 113 fires, which was a reminder that even inactive materials, if incorrectly stored, may ignite under the correct conditions,” the ministry officer said.
Meanwhile, 99 cases were confused under the “different”, while 66 fires were associated with naked flames. Domestic risks such as furnaces and stoves were responsible for 35 incidents.
The most unusual causes included fireworks (37), burning grass (34), sparks from locomotives (15) and chimneys (12). Chemical reactions (8), radiation (6), false alarms (5) and a lonely case of dust explosion ending from the list.
Regarding where these fires occurred, the data shared by the Ministry stated that the living spaces exceeded the graphs of 2,045 emergency calls. Other hotspots included warehouses and warehouses (1 127), shops and commercial sales (927), factories and industrial units (798) and electrical installations (430). Production and repair units recorded 122 calls and the number gradually dropped to places such as hospitals (37), libraries (32), airport (18) and dangerous chemical work (8). Even granaries (4), places of the assembly (3), temples and fireworks related to spaces (3), theaters (1) and cinemas (1) were not completely spared.
