A 57-year-old businessman from Basavanagudi sustained injuries after a bullet, suspected to be from an air rifle, reportedly hit him in the neck.
The man, identified as D. Rajagopal, runs a restaurant in the same locality, police officials said.
The incident reportedly took place on December 10 near Krishna Rao Park between 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm.
A senior police official said, “Mr. Rajagopal was out walking with a relative when he suddenly heard a sharp sound and immediately felt a stabbing pain behind his left ear, just above his neck. He realized that he might have been hit by a bullet and was rushed to the hospital and then lodged a complaint with the police.”
Based on his statement, the Basavanagudi police registered a case under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Mr Rajagopal was taken to hospital where he received medical treatment for the wound and was released.
Officials are now trying to confirm whether the injuries were caused by an air rifle and whether it was a deliberate attack.
