Abraham Renn S., Special Commissioner, Ministry of Tax of Goods and Services (SGST), on Saturday on Saturday advised civil servants to not consider the personality test (interview) part of the UPSC test as an unsurpassed obstacle, but to approach it intelligently.
“It is not a quiz, but rather an open conversation. It should be borne in mind that it is wisdom that answers questions in the personality test, not the knowledge itself,” said officer Indian Revenue Service (IRS). The second and last day of the Hindi Gate Summit in the 2025 gate at the Hycinth Hotel talked about “How to prepare for interviews with UPSC”.

Mr. Renn, who is also the director of State Lotteries, shared his own experience in a personality test with young participants at the summit. He explained how he changed his approach after his initial attempt proved to be disappointing.
“The best way to deal with a personality test is to cultivate a good personality,” he said, interacting with the participants. While the preliminary and network parts of the exam are testing knowledge of someone, the success of a personality test depends on how this knowledge was used to develop a person’s personality. The interview panel is here to try to find out who the candidate is.
Marathon, not sprint
