
The late night party in Hickory, Western North Carolina, became a tragic Sunday when shooting broke out, killed one person and injured at least 11 others. The shooting appeared around 12:45, according to the Sheriff Office of the Catawba district.
“One victim is currently in critical condition,” said Sheriff’s office, noting that 10 other victims remain hospitalized in serious condition. The names and age of the injured have not yet been released.
On the scene reportedly more than 100 people
According to the local WSOC-TV reports, there were up to 100 people, of which many of them reportedly students from nearby schools, were shooting during a crowded home party.
Witnesses described the scenes of chaos as shots rang. People began to command, scream, run in all directions – that was panic, they said.
Authorities started investigations with more agencies
The State Office for Investigation in North Carolina and the Police Department of Hickory leads the probe into the shooting. The Federal Investigation Office (FBI) also helps. There were no arrests and it is not yet clear how many shooters were involved or how many shots were fired.
