Deputy Commissioner Mandy Kumar said on Monday that along the Visvesvaraya Canal for 35 km, barriers of accidents were built.
Kumar, who spoke at a Mandyi meeting, said he had died in road accidents near the channel in the last two years. Several cases where the cars plunged into a water burn after the drivers lost control of the vehicle when negotiating the curves or walked along the canal.
The Technical Committee was established for the installation of security and accidents along the channel and the government was submitted a proposal that sought to release Crore of 20 GBP, he said.
While the channel covers 540 km in the district, Mr. Kumar said that it would be difficult to create a barrier of impact all over the section. Therefore, the areas susceptible to accidents were identified, and the Ministry of Public Works created bumps for 20 km and the irrigation department took over the work on the position of accidents for 13 km and the remaining section was carried out by another department.
Dr. Kumar suggested that the department earns funds from its relevant budgets in the department to create obstacles.
He said that the instructions have already been issued to install road humps, rumbles and signposts in addition to impact barriers.
The letter was written to the CEO of Cauvera Neeravari Nigam Limited (CNNL) to allocate funds to prevent the accident, because the main part of the roads fell under the jurisdiction of CNNL, Dr. Kumar.
