BRS seeks legal action against Agrivarsity VC over sexual harassment allegations
Former minister and BRS leader Satyavathi Rathod on Wednesday demanded action against Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) Vice-Chancellor Aldasi Janaiah over allegations of sexual harassment leveled by a female professor.
Addressing a press conference at the Telangana Bhavan, Ms. Rathod alleged that the police had not registered an FIR even 10 days after the professor filed a seven-page complaint with the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Governor.
Ms. Rathod alleged that instead of taking action against the vice-chancellor, the authorities transferred the woman professor while those associated with him threatened her family and pressured her to withdraw the complaint. She claimed that the Vice-Chancellor was protected because of his “closeness to the Congress leadership”.
Demanding a high-level investigation, she said the BRS would support the professor until justice was served.
When Prof. Contacted, Janaiah said he had no information about the issue. He said some disgruntled teachers may have resorted to tarnishing his image because he recently made transfers of long-serving teachers.
