BRS working president KT Rama Rao is holding a meeting with party leaders on Saturday in Hyderabad to push the Private Members Assembly Bill.
HYDERABAD
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would move a private member’s bill in the Assembly to implement the six guarantees given by the ruling Congress party ahead of the 2023 elections, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said here on Saturday.
Mr. Rama Rao held a meeting on the issue of moving the Private Member State Bill with senior party leaders and legal cell functionaries. The meeting was attended by former MPs B. Vinod Kumar, R. Chandrashekhar Reddy, MLC D. Sravan, S. Bharat Kumar, former Advocate General BS Prasad and others.
The BRS will move the Private Member State Bill with the sole objective of implementing the guarantees as the ruling party got the support of all sections of the electorate in the name of the six guarantees but betrayed them after coming to power by only partially implementing a few of them, Mr. Rao said at a press conference after the meeting.
He reminded the ruling party that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had signed a file regarding the implementation of six guarantees on his first day in office after assuming power. After a week’s break, the government let the governor speak about its implementation in a joint address to lawmakers, he said.
However, the promises made under the six guarantees remained unfulfilled, except for a few, that too partially, even after 800 days in office by the Congress party, Mr. Rao said, adding that the private member state bill would be moved in the ongoing budget session.
The BRS leader noted that the NT Rama Rao government (in combined Andhra Pradesh) had passed/passed the Private Member State Bill in the past and had shown its commitment to the people. Since there is a tradition of passing private member bills, the Congress government should continue it, he suggested.
He said BRS is bringing the bill on behalf of farmers, women, students, civil servants, unemployed youth and other sections of the society.
