Leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by working president KT Rama Rao and senior leader T. Harish Rao, who on Tuesday undertook visits to Basti Dawakhanas in all the four zones of Greater Hyderabad, alleged that they have been grossly neglected without proper supply of medicines and provision of other basic needs.
They interacted with doctors, nurses, other staff and patients to inquire about the status of clinics that extended free health services to people in their localities along with diagnostic services. Basti Dawakhanas, which used to provide quality healthcare to the people, now presented a dismal picture with only one-third of the types of medicines on offer and some of them were past their use-by date, BRS leaders said during the visits.
Besides Mr. Rama Rao and Mr. Harish Rao, MP V. Ravichandra, MLA P. Kaushik Reddy, V. Prashanth Reddy, M. Gopal, P. Rajeshwar Reddy, K. Venkatesh, V. Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Dr. K. Sanjay, MLCs T. Ravinder Sramana, V. Reddy, D. Reddy, D. Madhu, Naveen Kumar Reddy, Party Leaders S. Niranjan Reddy, E. Dayakar Rao, Dr. T. Rajaiah, Ch. Kranti Kiran, Dr. M. Anand, M. Krishank and several GHMC corporators and others visited Basti Dawakhanas across the city.
At Ibrahimnagar Basti Dawakhana in Khairatabad constituency, Mr. Rama Rao said the BRS government had commissioned 450 Basti Dawakhanas, including 350 in Hyderabad along with diagnostic services, but now they are not being supplied with even the necessary medicines.

During a visit to Old Lingampally Basti Dawakhana in Seri Lingampally Constituency, Mr. Harish Rao said that in the past they provided 110 types of medicines and 134 diagnostic tests to patients but now only a fraction of them are provided. In Rasoolpura (Secunderabad) Basti Dawakhana, party official spokesperson M. Krishank said that during his visit, the patient was given expired medicines.
