HYDERABAD
State Union Home Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar has accused the ruling Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of jointly looting the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), alleging massive corruption in both regimes.
He demanded a comprehensive probe into “corruption” in Singareni since 2014 and asked for a white paper on coal mine allocation and financial transactions.
During an informal interaction with the media at the BJP state office here on Saturday, Mr. Sanjay alleged that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s family looted Singareni during the previous BRS government, while Revanth Reddy’s cabinet members and middlemen are continuing irregularities under the current Congress government.
The Karimnagar MP alleged that nearly ₹42,000 crore belonging to Singareni was diverted, putting the PSU in debt and urged the Congress government to return the amount and prove its sincerity.
Alleging that both the Congress and the BRS were leveling allegations against each other to distract people from this scam and trying to protect each other, he demanded the immediate seizure of all records related to Singareni, saying any delay could lead to tampering with evidence.
Phone tapping
In the phone tapping case, Mr Sanjay questioned whether the Congress government was giving a clean chit to KCR and his son KTR and alleged political interference in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe. He said that several public figures, including himself, were victims of phone tapping and demanded an independent investigation and urged the government to give a free hand to the SIT by Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar.
The Union minister also accused previous governments in the state of encouraging vote-bank politics in the illegal Rohingya settlements in Hyderabad’s Old City as such actions threatened law and order.
