HYDERABAD
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao said the party’s revival began with BRS-backed candidates winning the Gram Panchayat elections in the erstwhile Nalgonda district, the very region where the party had previously faced setbacks. He added that the party is ready for unequivocal victories in all upcoming elections.
Addressing a felicitation meeting for the newly elected Sarpanch in Bhuvanagiri on Thursday, Mr. Rao said that people are now realizing the reality of Congress’ “misrule” and are extending staunch support to the BRS.
“Despite Congress intimidation and abuse of power, the people gave a clear verdict in the Panchayat elections. BRS secured 161 Sarpanch seats across Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. This mandate instilled renewed confidence in the party cadre across Telangana and marked the beginning of BRS’s return to its former glory,” KTR said.
Reacting to the Assembly Speaker’s decision on MLA defection, KTR said the Congress government has normalized defection as a survival tool and is destroying democratic values.
Taking a dig at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the former minister said the CM made big demands and failed to deliver.
Meanwhile, BRS leader and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao said that the results of the Sarpanch elections clearly indicate the declining popularity of Mr. Revanth Reddy. He also claimed that people were rioting against the state government because it failed to fulfill its six guarantees.

Addressing a ceremony for BRS-backed Sarpanches in Medak constituency, Mr. Rao said that the ruling party in any state normally secures 80 to 90 per cent of the Sarpanch seats. Despite the Chief Minister personally campaigning and allegedly violating the Election Code, the Congress was reduced to less than 50 percent, while BRS-backed candidates won over 40 percent of the seats. He added that the chief minister’s fear of the growing dynamism of the BRS will prevent him from holding elections to the ZPTC and MPTC soon.
Mr. Harish Rao further highlighted that the promise of 42% BC reservation remains unfulfilled, Rythu Bandhu has been suspended and farm loan waiver has reached less than half of the intended beneficiaries.
