Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy claimed that illegal phone tapping was still going on in the state and pointed suspiciously at the BRS without naming it.
He claimed that the government was treating the issue with utmost seriousness and warned that those responsible would face strict and uncompromising action. He was referring to the leaked audio of the conversation that BRS played at the press conference.
Speaking at a press conference in Khammam on Wednesday, the minister said the government has already started investigating where the surveillance equipment was installed and who was behind the operation.
“Phone tapping has been going on before and it continues till today. This is absolutely true. Some individuals are indulging in these illegal activities. We will explain who the masterminds are and where the device was installed,” he said.
Responding to a query, he said there was nothing wrong with soliciting votes from employees and clarified that he did so openly on behalf of his party.
The Minister said that the Congress would win 80% seats in Khammam district. “During the last two years, we have stood behind every promise and brought the government closer to the people. That is why the Congress is set for victory,” he said.
