HYDERABAD
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Sunday called for peaceful protests across the state against the political harassment of party founder and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao by the Congress government in the state.
In a statement issued by top party leaders S. Madhusudana Chary, T. Srinivas Yadav, P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, T. Padmarao Goud, V. Prashanth Reddy, KP Vivekanand, M. Krishna Rao, Satyavathi Rathod, K. Prabhakar, G. Balamallu, the government on Saturday asked the party government to burn the government convention and 12,000 more villages and townships, cycle rallies, black flag protests, rasta rokos and dharna in all constituency headquarters.
They said the government acted vindictively against the state’s first chief minister, under whose leadership the decades-long dream of statehood in Telangana came true. They suggested the party leaders not to give any space to confront the police during the protests and explain the government’s conspiracy to the people, including the investigation into a “concocted wiretapping case”.
In another statement, party working president KT Rama Rao sought to find out what vicarious pleasure those behind KCR’s notice were taking by sending the police to KCR’s residence in Nandinagar late on Friday night and pasting the notice on the wall when KCR himself wrote to the investigating SIT officer that he resides in Erravelli among all other areas of Siddipet.
Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao also asked for his examination in Erravelli as he was more than 65 years old and under the provisions of Cr.PC Mr. Rama Rao said it is nothing but sheer arrogance of some police officers and their political bosses to whose tunes they dance.
Speaking at Rangadhampalli in Siddipet district, party general secretary and former senior IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar alleged that the Congress government is harassing BRS leaders in the name of phone tapping case and running it as a daily serial. He said the government is doing this to divert people’s attention from its scams like the Singareni overburden tenders, transfers of over 9,000 acres of land in and around Hyderabad under the HILT policy.
