Tourism and Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao called the boycott of the BRS assembly a “calculated move to hide the truth” and said the party was “running away from the House to avoid confronting the facts of their misdeeds” regarding the Krishna water projects.
Addressing the media at a Media Point rally on Friday, along with Animal Husbandry Minister Vakiti Srihari and several MLAs, he said the absence of the BRS was more of a strategic evasion than a legitimate protest. According to him, this is a pre-planned and thought-out act that is intended to prevent discussion on the floor of the House of Representatives.
He added that KCR and his team have stayed away because they know that if they come to the rally, they will have to face the facts and their lapses, failures and mistakes will be exposed. No party is boycotting the entire session, alleging that it was not given enough time in question hour, and this is unprecedented.
Mr. Jupally argued that attendance in the House was a prerequisite to being heard. Ever since Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy invited the opposition for a debate on the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, the BRS became nervous.
Recalling BRS’s own record, he reminded the public of the expulsion of Congress MLAs in 2018 and the suspension of 11 members, including Jana Reddy.
The minister further highlighted the gross mismanagement of irrigation projects under the previous regime and pointed out that despite the BRS government spending ₹27,000 crore on the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, not a single acre of land was given water.
