British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will visit India from 8 to 9 October.
During the visit, Mr. Starmer and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will discuss “regional and global importance issues,” said the Ministry for External Affairs on Saturday. The visit comes against the background of the ongoing wars in Gaza and Ukraine.
It is expected that his visit will further strengthen bilateral trade, because the months after India and the United Kingdom signed a comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA).
During the journey, Mr. Starmer and Mr. Modi will participate in the sixth edition of the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai 9 October and deliver the main addresses in this event.
Both leaders welcomed the peace plan of the Gaza of US President Donald Trump. Given that Mr. Starmer’s visit comes only two months before the expected visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin in India, the Ukrainian War is also likely to appear in bilateral interviews.

Access to the market
Mr. Modi visited London on July 24 when both sides closed CETA. Mr. Modi then said that the agreement would help India access to the Great Britain for “Indian textiles, shoes, gems and jewelry, sea and engineering goods”. “On the other hand, products produced in the UK, such as medical devices and air components, will be more accessible and more accessible to Indian consumers and industries,” he said.
During a visit to Mr. Starmer in Mumbai 9. October, two premieres will discuss “bilateral trade and investment, technologies and innovations, defense and security, climate and energy, health, education and relationships between people,” Mea said in the announcement.
