On both sides of the bridge of Porsur and the Madham separator on the elevated CHENNAI, barriers of stainless steel appear.
“It is a measure for correction of Blackspot on both structures. They are laid at the request of the traffic police. In Porite Bridge passes through the lake. Motorists often stop on the road to watch the lake under the bridge. Some people even try to sit or stand on reinforced concrete (RCC) Barricades.
On the Madhavaram Grade separator, when motorists take down to the side ramp, vehicles can accelerate accidents on the curve. Stainless steel barricades will prevent it.
Nhai initiative
Barricades are part of the efforts of the National Authority for Motorways in India to reduce accidents of these structures.
The offers were invited to design and install barriers that allow motorists to see the other side, yet they cannot exceed reinforced cement concrete barricades.
The height of the barricades would be one meter. They would be installed on a combined length of 1.210 km for an estimated cost of 29.83 ₹ Lakh. The supplier would have to complete the work within 120 days.
The former motorway engineer said that such measures were welcome and must be started on all bridges across water formations.
“There were incidents of people at the bottom of the lake at the bottom. There were also deaths due to drowning. These stainless steel barricades will not prevent people from seeing water.
