BRICS Adopts New Delhi Declaration, Stresses Conflict Prevention Efforts, Expresses Concerns Over Unilateral Tariffs | Today’s news

A diplomatic breakthrough for India saw BRICS members reach consensus on a joint statement on Saturday, despite differences between Iran and the United Arab Emirates over the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The agreement followed a series of behind-the-scenes negotiations aimed at resolving differences.

She emphasized conflict prevention efforts and expressed concern about unilateral tariffs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed the acceptance of the declaration after the first day of the two-day summit hosted by India.

Talks on the text continued into the final stages after Iran and the UAE initially maintained opposing positions. Since BRICS decisions are taken by consensus, each member has the ability to prevent the group from issuing a joint statement.
