Randell didn’t stop there. The 30-year-old seamer claimed two more wickets in his next over to finish with excellent figures of 7 for 25 – the best performance of his nine-year first-class career. His devastating spell helped Northern Districts win by just 82 runs after Central District posted 373 in their first innings. While the feat is unique in first-class cricket, Irish international Curtis Campher took five wickets in five balls in a professional T20 match last year. However, Randell’s feat is the first of its kind in the long history of first-class cricket.
