A stunning video shared on Instagram has left viewers in awe, showing what appears to be a “Boeing 747” cruising through the sky at nearly “900 km/h (about 560 mph)”. The clip captures a rare view from another plane, revealing a giant jet effortlessly slicing through the clouds – with white trails trailing behind it.
At first glance, many thought the scene looked almost otherworldly, or even AI-generated, but what is seen is pure aviation physics in action. An Instagram user who goes by the name ‘Wealth’ explained that the bright streaks, often mistaken for ‘chemtrails’, are actually contrails or contrails. These are formed when hot exhaust gases from engines meet freezing air at high altitudes, causing the water vapor to condense and instantly freeze into tiny ice crystals. These trails can last a few seconds or they can last for miles depending on the humidity and temperature of the atmosphere.
The user went on to write: “The Boeing 747, lovingly nicknamed the ‘Queen of the Sky’, usually flies around 35,000 feet where the air is thin enough to reduce drag but still dense enough to create lift. This delicate balance allows it to cruise at speeds close to Mach 0.85 and efficiently carry hundreds of passengers across continents.”
The video goes viral
The video quickly went viral, with many users expressing their amazement.
‘So great! I’ve always wondered what those chemtrails look like up close,” commented one.
Another added: “It’s actually so cool to think you’re sitting there and it doesn’t even feel like you’re moving. Yet it’s going almost 1000mph! The technology is amazing!”
One skeptic commented, “Is it AI?” while another quipped: “Normalize chemtrails. Contrails disappear in seconds.”
The clip, whether real or AI-generated, perfectly captures the beauty and precision of flying high above the clouds.
Another user commented: “Have you ever been driving in the winter and then pulled into the garage and all your windows fogged up? It’s because the cold and warm air creates condensation. Airplane engine exhaust is around 1250°C, while the temperature at 30,000 feet is about -50°C. This creates a huge amount of moisture. Second, there’s a saying: To keep a secret between three people, two must be dead.” Airplanes have had these “chemtrails” for as long as there have been turbine engines – about 70 years – and only in the last few years has it become a tinfoil-shaped “news”. So every aeronautical engineer, their families, airline shareholders, the people who power the planes, the pilots, the mechanics, the engineering professors and the students supposedly kept it a secret for 67 years? Finally, have you ever seen a mining town where everything is covered in dust from the mines? They claim that airplanes have been dropping aluminum on us for 70 years, but I’ve never rubbed my finger on a dirty car and found it glistening with particles. Use your brain.”
