After the recent abolition of the jury of teaching and unused denominators, some teachers have left the unemployed on Monday (April 7, 2025), expressed dissatisfaction with the proposal of the chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to continue working on a voluntary basis until new recruitment was completed.
The Supreme Court, April 4, confirmed the earlier decision of the High Court in Calcutta to cancel more than 25,000 teaching and inconvenient appointments in 2016 for the State and Auxiliary Schools of the West Bengal Commission (SSC) due to extensive fraud and manipulation.
Major Minister Mamata Baerjee met with damaged teachers at the inner stadium in Calcutta around noon on Monday. It addressed thousands of participants and stated that the government of West Bengal had filed a proposal for a review in the court and required a segregated list of “stained” and “infinite” candidates, along with explaining whether they can continue to work until fresh recruits are completed.
“Was your work already ended? Did you all have a notice of termination?
She argued that her government would ensure that in two months, after completing the fresh recruitment process, everyone would get the job back. “Those who have more than 10 years of experience will gain more concessions,” the main minister said.
However, during and after the meeting, a large part of the attending teachers loudly expressed their dissatisfaction with the proposals of the Chief Minister and the lack of clarity, whether they would be paid for their salaries for volunteering.
The injured teacher Pratap Roychowdhury told Hindu that the teacher movement would continue and that some teachers would not participate in voluntary service.
“We are victims of injustice. To do this without determining who the candidates are tight, it is simply unfair. We wanted our work and salaries to remain intact. But that didn’t happen,” he said.
Sagar Mondal, a disabled teacher who sat in front of the stage, was one of the few participants who tried to approach the main minister during her address to clear his doubts in real time.
“I asked her from the ground floor what he meant voluntarily. She said on stage that it was a legally aligned proposal and that she would take care of two months worth salary. Mondal said.
He added that some teachers, including him, decided to “help” with the school activities on a voluntary basis, as the main minister suggested. But they would also take the time to keep their movement for justice and to ensure alternative living.
“We are not clear why we need to reappear to a new exam in order to maintain jobs that we have justified. Until the government goes to the Supreme Court and acts according to their promises, and as long as the Ministry of Education publishes a segregated” tight “and” unopened “denominator, we will not be easy,” Mondal said.
The same feelings were repeated to the Das, the teacher of mathematics in the state school in the south 24 Parganas, who was present at the meeting. He said that when the main minister mentioned “voluntary service”, the crowd expanded the ripple of anxiety and restlessness.
“The main minister said that concessions will be provided to those who have more than 10 years of experience in teaching. But those admitted in the 2016 panel affected have officially started working in 2018. So we have about six to seven years of work experience. he asked.
He stressed that the Supreme Court’s judgment was already mentioning the way out for those who worked before the SSC, and who could therefore have the necessary work experience to use the promised concessions of the main minister.
“Some of the aforementioned candidates who do not fall into the category of stained candidates may have previously worked in various departments of the state government or with autonomous bodies, etc. In such cases, although their appointment is canceled, these candidates will have the right to apply for previous departments or autonomous authorities to continue service with these entities.”
Like Mr. Mondal, Mr. Das said that the promises of the main minister are vague and that he is not willing to “voluntarily” in a position where he acted as a justified and paid job. For him and many, they like the continuation of their salaries to new recruitment was the most important demand.
“She mentioned” suffering “for two months. Frankly, not only we are not assured, but we also expect the worst, which is an end. said.
