
In the latest prediction of the Indian Meteorological Department, Monday warned that April-June would be warmer than the usual and more waves of waves in many countries, including Middle and East India and Northwest Plains, PTI reported.
The minimum temperatures will also be above normal in most regions, at the online press conference, Chief Chief of India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
“From April to June, most parts of northern and East India, Central India and Northwest India are expected to experience two to four other thermal wave days than usual,” he said.

Most parts of India are likely to witness higher than the usual maximum temperatures in April, but some areas in the extreme south and northwestern areas may experience normal temperatures, IMD added.
With the exception of several places in the northwest and northeast, where temperatures can be normal or slightly below normal, the minimum temperatures will be higher than usual throughout India, Mohapatra said.
Top demand for electricity:
Experts, referring to extreme days of heat waves, warned that India should prepare for maximum growth in electricity in the summer season by 9 to 10 percent.
According to the details of demand throughout India, top electricity exceeded 300 gigawatts (GW) 30 May in 2024, which was 6.3 % higher than the projection. The thermal stress induced by climate change is observed by one of the key factors that control the demand for electricity.
