A day after the Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing alleged voter fraud in Aland Assembly constituency, raided the residence of former BJP MLA Subhash Guttedar on Friday, he alleged that the action was an attempt to divert public attention from development issues.
“Aland MLA BR Patil’s allegations of voter fraud in Aland constituency are fabricated; the legislator concocted stories of electoral fraud and met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. All these strategies were made to appease the Congress high command and get closer to Mr Gandhi with the motive of securing the ministerial berth,” alleged Mr Guttedar.
Addressing reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Guttedar alleged that several plans had been hatched against him in the past. Mr. Guttedar accused Mr. Patil and his nephew of RK Patil’s involvement in the alleged murder of his close associate Mahantappa Allure, that the police did not conduct a fair investigation despite lodging a complaint.
Mr. Guttedar rejected claims that burnt voter lists were found outside his residence and claimed that his workers burnt the waste papers while cleaning a house overlooking Deepavali.
Responding to a question, Mr. Guttedar said he would cooperate with the investigation.
He also accused the state government of withdrawing security from him.
