Olympic boxing legend MC Mary Kom has released a clarifying video after her recent remarks sparked backlash on social media. The six-time world champion apologized in the video to those who felt hurt, saying her comments were misunderstood and taken out of context. She emphasized that she never intended to offend anyone, create division or promote negative thinking.Mary Kom has dealt with speculations about her personal life, especially her marriage and divorce with Karung Onkholer (Onler). She clarified that her marriage wasn’t a failure from the start, explaining that things were stable for many years before the trust finally broke down.She also rejected claims that she was against football, youth culture or the sports fraternity. Although she is a boxer, Mary said she loves football and appreciates the athletes who have risen from the field through discipline and hard work. Speaking at Aap Ki Adalat, Mary accused Onler of financial fraud and alleged that he lived off her earnings, withdrew Rs 10 lakh without consent and transferred properties worth crores to his name. “I didn’t cheat him. He cheated me financially,” she said. Onler denied the allegations and countered with claims of extramarital affairs, claimed long-term relationships and said he had proof.“First of all, she had an affair with a junior boxer in 2013. Our families had a fight and then we compromised. And since 2017, she has been in a relationship with someone who works at Mary Kom Boxing Academy. I have their WhatsApp messages as proof. I have proof with the name of the person she had an affair with,” he replied later and he replied to me to be left alone. “We’re divorced. I don’t mind if she wants another husband. But don’t ever accuse me. And if she accuses me, bring the proof; get the papers. I know where she lives and with whom.”
