
Rains Mumbai: Heavy showers, thunderstorms and lightning on Tuesday evening brought much needed relief from heat-burning in financial capital and adjacent to Thane and Kalyan-Dombivli.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released a yellow warning for the Metropolitan Mumbai region for the next four days with light to medium rainfall.
“The storm accompanied by flash, light to mild collisions and impact winds (40-50 km / h) are probably in isolated places,” said the weather department for the maximum city.
For May 20, IMD released yellow alerts for Palghar, Thane, Bombi and Raigad.
Within May 24th, a red warning was issued for the Sindhudurg district.
Rainfall activity to increase
According to IMD, the cyclonic circulation of the upper air lies above the southern interior of Karnataka and its neighborhood in the lower medium tropospheric levels and leans the southwest with height. Under its influence, rain activity over Maharáštra is likely to increase between 20 and 25 May.
The weather department predicts that relatively widespread rainfall activities with severe to very strong precipitation in isolated places are expected over Konan and the adjacent areas of Ghat Madhya Maharashtra.
“Insulated to scattered light/slight rainfall accompanied by a storm, lightning and wind speed reaching 50-60 km/h is expected over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwad on 20-23 May 2025,” said weather weather department.
Several social media users also took X to share videos and photos of rain.
The weather department also issued an orange alert of GoA, predicting heavy or very heavy rain.
Six killed in Thane
Meanwhile, six people on the board of the top floor of a four -storey building in Kalyan on the lower floors were killed in the related development.
Four people were injured in the incident, including two children aged four.
