A bomb threat at the Bombay High Court on Thursday triggered panic, following which other courts in Mumbai were also evacuated, IANS reported. Bandra and Esplanade courts in south Mumbai were also vacated due to security concerns.
The Bombay Police has deployed a bomb detection unit at the Bombay High Court premises, located in the Fort area of South Mumbai. However, no suspicious item was found during the investigation. To trace the source of the threatening email, the Mumbai Police has launched an investigation to identify the sender and determine the motive behind it.
According to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, the bomb threat was emailed to several courts and banks. Asserting that there was “no need to panic”, he assured that police teams had cleared and thoroughly inspected the threatened areas.
At the beginning of September this year, the proceedings of the High Court were temporarily interrupted after a bomb exploded.
