A fake bomb threat was sent to the headquarters of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in Bengaluru, claiming that explosives were planted in the high-security facility. After a thorough security check by police and bomb disposal squads, the threat was declared a hoax.
The email was received by ISRO staff after lunch. They immediately alerted the police. Police along with Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) rushed to the spot and evacuated the premises.
A thorough anti-sabotage check did not reveal any explosive material. The Sanjay Nagar police have registered a case to trace the sender of the email.
ISRO said: “The ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru was evacuated on July 2 following a bomb threat email. Police and bomb disposal squads searched the premises. No suspicious object has been found so far. Officials say an investigation into the email is underway. The threat is being taken seriously.”
