Citing the police, PTI reported that a search was launched at the Cliff House official residence in Kerala on December 1.
Police said searches were conducted at Vijayan’s residence and a private bank in Palayam on December 1 after an email claimed that bombs had been planted at both places.
Bomb threat hoax: What we know
According to police, a search was launched at Cliff House after his private secretary received an email claiming a bomb had been placed on the premises. And a dog squad and a bomb detection team were deployed.
The email was later confirmed as a scam.
Police officials said similar emails claiming explosives at the CM’s residence had been received several times in the past. In all these emails, the sender mentioned political developments in Tamil Nadu and cases registered there, they added.
The email was sent via a dark web application, but security checks were in place
An official told PTI that the emails were sent using dark web applications, making it difficult to trace the accused. However, as a precautionary measure, checks are carried out whenever such emails are received, the official added.
A case has been registered and investigation is on.
