Bollywood singer-composer Sachin Sanghvi, who shot to fame with projects like Stree 2 and Bhediya, was arrested on Thursday on charges of sexual assault. He was later released on bail.
Sanghvi sexually assaulted the woman by promising her a chance to appear on a music album. According to a report by news agency PTI, he also promised her marriage.
Sanghvi was arrested on Thursday, according to the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
PTI spoke to an official who said the complainant, who is in her early 20s, claimed that she got in touch with Sanghvi in February 2024 after he messaged her on Instagram.
The woman said that after their initial interaction on social media, they exchanged numbers and Sanghvi called her to his studio.
It is in the studio where Sanghvi proposed to her and even sexually assaulted her several times, according to the complainant.
Meanwhile, Sanghvi denied the allegations and his lawyer Aditya Mithe said, “The allegations in the FIR against my client are absolutely baseless and baseless.” “There is absolutely no merit to the case. The detention of my client by the police was unlawful and he was therefore immediately released on bail. We intend to fully and unequivocally defend all charges,” the statement read.
Sachin himself did not comment on the matter. He has also not updated anything on his Instagram account which is currently deactivated.
