Navigation and operational upgrades for Boeing 737 Next Generation (737NG) aircraft, along with engine indication system upgrades for ATR and Dash 8 aircraft, are among the key areas of collaboration under a new partnership between Hyderabad-based GMR Aero Technic and Canadian Corporation Logic Air Inc.

The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on aircraft modifications, engineering, certification and solutions that address component obsolescence for customers in India and international markets.

The partnership will explore aircraft modifications that can be incorporated during scheduled maintenance, aircraft redelivery programs and transition checks. It will also cover electrical and structural cabin modifications, retrofits for the Dash 8 Q400 fleet, freighter conversions and aircraft transition support.

Under the agreement, the companies will explore the validation, adaptation and implementation of eligible Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) and modification data developed by Logic Air for aircraft operators in India and overseas. The partnership will draw on Logic Air’s expertise in aircraft integration, engineering and certification, including STC applicability assessment, certification and verification planning, installation design, testing and continuing airworthiness support.

The collaboration will also focus on addressing component obsolescence and on-wing support, along with training, installation capabilities and long-term maintenance support in India. Both companies intend to pursue opportunities with airlines, aircraft lessors and cargo operators, particularly in the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions.

Ashok Gopinath, President and Managing Director, GMR Aero Technic, said: “By combining Logic Air’s experience in aircraft modification, engineering and certification with GMR Aero Technic’s MRO infrastructure and execution capabilities, we aim to offer integrated solutions that can be efficiently delivered alongside maintenance and transition programs.”

Prashanth Rajanna, executive director of strategy and global business development, Logic Air Inc., said: “This collaboration also creates a strategic platform for Canadian aerospace engineering and innovation to support the rapidly growing aerospace markets in India, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.”
