The body of a 35-year-old man who died in a recent boating tragedy off the coast of Mozambique will be brought to India on Friday (October 24, 2025), MP NK Premachandran said.
Here, Sreerag Radhakrishnan of Naduvilakara in Thevalakkara was among the 21 people, including 14 Indians, on board the ship that capsized near Beira port while it was transferring them to the tanker MT Sea Quest for maintenance on October 16.
In a statement, Mr Premachandran said on Thursday (October 23) that Sreerag’s mortal remains would be repatriated to India on Thursday and were expected to arrive in Mumbai on Friday. “Once customs clearance and other formalities are completed, the remains will be taken to Sreeraga’s residence,” Mr. Premachandran said, adding that he was in touch with Indian officials in Mozambique and shipping authorities for further updates.
The MP said another Malayali, Indrajith, 22, from Piravom, who was also on board the ill-fated boat, remains missing.
Sreerag’s body was found on October 20 after a massive search operation. His family said he returned to the shipping company on October 14 after a six-month hiatus.
