The Bengalur Party Nava Nirman (BNP) criticized the process of defining the government for the newly created five corporations and called it defective and unscientific.
The government argued that the division of Bruhhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) into five corporations would bring the administration to citizens closer. However, BNP noted that the number of departments was limited to approximately 368, so each department remained too large to be able to handle effectively. For the city of nearly 1.5 inhabitants of Crore, BNP demanded at least 500 departments, with about 30,000 inhabitants and 20,000 voters per department, according to BNP also recommendations issued by the Bengalur Committee.
“This definition clearly shows that administration is never the intention,” said Sikanth Narasimhan, founder and general secretary of BNP. “By refusing to create a smaller and more manageable ward, the government undermined the purpose of creating five corporations.”
The party also marked the inconsistency in the data on the population used for exercise. BNP demanded the process review, increase to 500 departments and full transparency of population data and voters.
