BMTC to step in to support KSRTC to run 150 more buses from station on October 1
As passenger demand is expected to increase ahead of Gandhi Jayanti and the long weekend, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will step in to support the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) by deploying 150 additional buses for stopover services on Thursday.
According to an order issued by the BMTC on Wednesday, additional services will be operated from Kempegowda Bus Stand (KBS) and Mysuru Road Bus Stand to accommodate passengers traveling from Bengaluru to various parts of Karnataka.
Out of 150 buses, 100 will be operated from KBS after 8:00 PM and another 50 will be operated from Mysuru Road Bus Stand after 5:00 PM.
From KBS, additional services will include buses to Shivamogga, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Hosadurga, Hosapete, Ballari, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru and Dharmasthala. Mysuru Road Bus Station will have additional services to Mysuru and Malavalli/Kollegal.
The move is aimed at easing pressure on KSRTC services during the holiday season and ensuring that passengers can travel to their destinations during increased demand, according to officials.
BMTC has also directed its Divisional Transport Officers to coordinate with KSRTC officials and deploy additional buses on routes witnessing higher passenger demand and overcrowding. The arrangement comes ahead of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, followed by a weekend when intercity travel from Bengaluru is expected to increase. In recent years, BMTC has been deploying its buses to support KSRTC during long weekends and holidays, helping to meet the increase in passenger demand.
