Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has signed a grant agreement with Bagmane Developers Pvt. s.r.o. for financial participation in the construction of the DRDO Sports Complex metro station as part of the 2nd stage of the metro project.
Under the agreement signed on Friday, Bagmane developers will contribute ₹40 crore towards the station on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) corridor, which connects the Central Silk Board with KR Puram. Of this, ₹20 crore has already been remitted. The company will also support improvements to the station’s interior and exterior facade, according to the report.
In return, BMRCL will grant the naming rights of the station to Bagmane Developers for a period of 20 years, subject to the approval of the state government. The proposed name is “Bagmane Metro Station DRDO Sports Complex”.
Officials said the deal follows a grant-in-aid model, where a private partner contributes to capital expenditures during the construction phase. Rights are limited to naming, with no other commercial or advertising permissions.
The DRDO Sports Complex station is part of the 19.75 km long ORR corridor comprising 17 stations, which is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve sustainable urban mobility in Bengaluru.
This is the sixth agreement under BMRCL’s innovative funding mechanism, with two more such partnerships in the pipeline.
