The fourth edition of the Maharaja T20 Trophy, the T20 franchise tournament, was moved from the M Chinnaswamy Bengaluru stadium. According to Espncricinfo, the decision was taken after Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) failed to obtain a police permit to host a tournament that contains six teams.
This development comes only weeks after a report on the damning court commission considered the stadium m chinnaswamy essentially dangerous For great events. The John Michael d’Unha, which was established to investigate 4th, during the celebration of the Bengalur victory (RCB), found that the “design and structure” of the stadium “was by its very nature” inappropriate and dangerous “to events attracting great crowds. The incident claimed 11 lives and left more than 50 people injured.
The loss of the Maharaja T20 trophy is an important blow to the iconic place of Bengalur, especially when the World Women’s World Championship is approaching. Five matches, including the tournament opener between India and Sri Lanka 30 September, is scheduled to host at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.
