Dense fog continued to prevail in the capital on Wednesday, December 31, with Delhi Airport announcing potential flight delays and cancellations.
Visuals from Delhi showed that visibility had dropped to a few meters, with almost nothing visible on Wednesday morning.
In a 6 am update, the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) authorities said that under the current conditions, flight operations were being conducted under CAT III protocols and disruptions could be expected.
“Our ground teams are on site actively assisting passengers to ensure a smooth travel experience,” Delhi Airport said in a post on X.
Airport authorities have also urged passengers to check the latest updates regarding their flights and contact the relevant airlines if necessary.

Several airlines also issued weather advisories for Wednesday, warning that schedules may change due to low visibility.
IndiGo, which experienced massive flight disruptions in early December, said operations at Delhi, Hindon and several other airports were expected to be slower than normal, adding that its teams were “prioritizing safety and compliance with visibility requirements”.
The airline also urged flyers to check their flight status.
“If your flight is affected, you can conveniently rebook your journey or request a refund,” IndiGo said.
“Once the weather calms down, operations will gradually stabilize and flights will depart as scheduled. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We look forward to welcoming you on board soon,” the airline added.
Air India also issued a lengthy advisory on Wednesday warning of “potential cascading delays” across its network.
“This includes the scheduled cancellation of some morning flights most likely to be affected by the fog, with advance information to passengers to avoid long and uncertain waits at airports. In the event of any unexpected flight delays, diversions or cancellations, our airport teams will remain available to provide the necessary assistance and support,” Air India said.
It also asked passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
Low-cost carrier SpiceJet also announced the suspension of its flights from the nation’s capital and urged flyers to check their flight status.
SpiceJet also warned of service delays at Ayodhya airport due to weather conditions.
